Does an SRTsubtitle work with a Bin/cue-movie

It could if your player supports playing BIN/CUE's and loading external subs.

Thanks for replying. To be(much)more specific : I got a bin/cue-movie and an srt-subtitle. My goal is to burn it(Nero 6)for a standalone DVD-player. Trial run on computer with VLC-player (version 0.8.4)does not show any subtitle although I have specified the subtitle-path. I have not actually tried burning it.

If it is a VCD you could extract the mpg, Demux the m1v stream, re-encode the audio to AC3 and author with the subs. If it is an SVCD you could do the same, but it wouldn't be DVD compliant.
