I used one of the links posted in a previous message to "The firmware page" and found that there are multiple firmware versions for my nec ND-3500AG can someone tell me the latest one? lol sounds stupid but have a look

I'm doing this because my backup of fight night round 3 is jumping frequently, i have read a lot of posts here and have just bought some decent media thinking it was that, just need to do firmware now :).

I have rebuilt the image but it was still jumping and it wasn't just fight night round 3, i was using bulkpaq and it has a code of MCC but are they fake????

Also just another question :D can someone recommend a decent drive that can write dvd-rom?

The first is a manufactures update the second is a hack to make your burner region free
hacks can be risky so unless you need to make the burner region free I would use the manufacturers one
try keeping your burn speed down to half the rateing ie. 8X disc 4X burn and avoid 16X speed discs ps2's dont seem to like them
