I have tried numerous times to remove Huntbar from a computer and it still is on it. Spybot says it has to restart to remove it and it still can't. I can't find the files that are supposed to be there. Wintools folder, etc. Can anyone help to remove this?

Hi again.

You got a huntbar and a few worms too.

Cleaning instructions:

Update your Ewido, do NOT run a scan yet.

Go to Control Panel -> Add or remove programs -> Remove WinTools if found

Run HijackThis and fix these entries (if found): (Do a system scan only, check entries, close all other windows, press Fix checked)

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://qus8.hpwis.com/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-qus8.hpwis.com/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ycomp/defaults/sp/*http...
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/stp/ymsgr6/...
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://srch-qus8.hpwis.com/
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/stp/ymsgr6/...
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ycomp/defaults/su/*http...
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8DA5457F-A8AA-4CCF-A842-70E6FD274094} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsT.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Windows System32] winsystem32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [WINDOWS SYSTEM] skybot.exe
O23 - Service: SCA (Service Control Application) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\SYSTEM.EXE (file missing)

Then in HijackThis
-> Press "Configure" button on down-right
-> Press "Misc Tools"
-> Press "Delete an NT service"
-> Copy/paste this to the field: Service Control Application
-> Press Ok

Restart your computer to the safe mode (Press F8 button when computer is starting and choose safe mode)

Make your hidden files visible:
->On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
->Click the View tab.
->Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.

Delete this folder if found:
C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\-->WinTools

Delete this file if found:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\-->SYSTEM.EXE

Use the Windows "search" function (make sure that you search from hidden files and folders and from system folders too)

Search for this and delete if found: winsystem32.exe
Search for this and delete if found: skybot.exe

Empty the Recycle Bin

Make your hidden files invisible again:
->On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
->Click the View tab.
->Under Hidden files and folders, click Do not show hidden files and folders.

Scan yor computer with Ewido and save the log file.

Restart your computer normally.

Post a fresh HijackThis log and Ewido's log to here so we can see if your computer is now clean.

One of the worms tries to disable antivirus and firewall programs so check that you have those (especially firewall)enabled.

I have moved from AD, I won''t be taking new HijackThis logs from here. Reason: The AD''s Unsupportive athmosphere.

It wont let me delete the NT service "Service Control Application". It says it must be disabled in either HiJackThis scan or services.msc. I couldn't find it in either place. Running Ewidio now and post logs when done.

Ok,

This Service Control Application service is not gone yet. Lets try to shut it down one more time.

Start
-> Run
-> Write this to the field: services.msc
-> Scroll down to Service Control Application (SCA)
-> Right-click and click Disable
-> Close the window

Run HijackThis
-> Press "Configure" button on down-right
-> Press "Misc Tools"
-> Press "Delete an NT service"
-> Copy/paste this to the field: Service Control Application
-> Press Ok

Then the thing that Ewido couldn't clean:

Start
-> Run
-> Write this to the field: regedit

At first, you should take a backup of your registry:
-> (In regedit) select My Computer right-click it and press Export
-> Name it to RegBackup and save it to the C:\

Then go: (in regedit)
-> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> CurrentVersion -> Uninstall
-> Search Wintools
-> Right-Click
-> Priviledges
-> Choose your current account and check -> Full Rights (or priviledges): Allow
-> Press Ok
-> Then delete Wintools
-> Close Regedit

Post a new HijackThis log to here.

I have moved from AD, I won''t be taking new HijackThis logs from here. Reason: The AD''s Unsupportive athmosphere.

I tried the services.msc thing previously and there was no Service Control Application. And there isn't one now.

I can't figure out how to allow all permissions. It askes me to enter an object name and I don't know what that is. There are three similar folder in the regestry. WinTools, WinTools_ADKW, and WinTools_ESIES.

Now what do I do.

Ok, the service is gone, that is good.

When does it ask you to enter an object name?

Are you logged in with an adminstrator account?

Try if you can delete all those three wintools objects without changing priviledges.
