when i check properties it says that files are 3.96 gb, when i try to use dvd decrypter its saying the files are 8+ gb. anyone got any ideas? i am also having the same problem with champions of norath
both are DVD9 (dual layer) games
so if these games are actual size, like from an original disc, or one that has not already been rebuilt and ripped to fit a standard DVD5 then you are out of luck.
Only a good chip like DMS4 Pro or Matrix Infinity can play a back up DVD9 game without having to rip it down to a DVD5 size.
goto backuptools.co.uk and get Sonics God of War Tutorial Version 1 and use it. this is the only rip kit that works for Most people. other rip kits have hanging problems at the layer break.
If I rip the DL GOW iso, and then use GNIE's Expert to shrink and rebuild the iso, and the iso is below the threshold size of 4.36 GB for Swap Magic 3.6, are you saying the sticking point with this method will be the point at which the dual layer breaks from the first layer to the next?
I'm trying to get a firm handle on exactly why GNIE's Expert won't work as standalone (plus DVD Decryptor) for converting DVD-9 to DVD-5.
the files GodOfWar .ims and .iml have to be modified to compensate for the layer break, if not then the game will hang at the point where it should switch layers. i know without a doubt that the tutorial i mentioned above compensates for this perfectly because I've ripped it myself and played it in its entirety via different methods to test for problems. I've also uploaded it as a torrent to many sites and out of several hundred snatches it's worked perfectly for everyone.
that method is easy and best of all, it works. if you still want to use GNIE do so.
Didn't try GOW with gnies tool, I did that game the way KC said about with sonix tutorial etc back when the game first came out... and it works great.
But I did use gnie's expert tool for champions of norrath, and it worked perfectly, no lagging or anything... and I played it throughout. So, it's up to you which way you choose to do it, with gnie's tool it takes about 10 mins, or you could do it the other way.
