Ok, Here's some background info. I'm new to this hobby I've been reading for days on end, I'm pretty sure i have the appropriate programs for making simple backups. I've wasted 10 frickin discs already trying to get this to work!! I ordered the media from supermediastore online so fairly confident they are genuine Yuden discs.

I'll use Ghost Recon 2 for the purposes of this thread but am getting the same results on all 10 i've tried to backup.

Game Name: Ghost Recon 2
Game Region: NTSC
Media Make: Tayio Yuden 4x-8x
Media ID: TYG02
Disc Max Speed: 8x
Speed of Burning: Have tried at 2x and 4x
PS2 Modification: FlipTop and SwapMagic 3.6
PS2 Version: V8
Game Aquuired: Original Disc
Rebuilt: No
Rebuilding Software: N/A
Burning Software: DVD Decrypter
Burning Device: LG SuperMulti Drive HL-DT-ST-DVDRAM GSA-4167B DL-13

PROBLEM: The SwapMagic 3.6 is actually included on a disc i received titled "The Ultimate SwapDisc" it also has about 10 other programs on it that are irrelavent to me. I load up the SwapMagic from the main menu on this disc, and it say "Load Program", this is when i swap in the backup that i've made, then press X on the controller, the disc spins for a minute, then displays "Not a Valid PS2 Disc", I have also tried pressing the square for "special boot" with the same results. Any help would be EXTREMELY APPRECIATED!!!! Thanx in advance!!

I had originally ordered a fliptop and just the Swap Magic 3.6 discs from ps2coverdotcom. They were out of stock on the discs so they sent me that instead.

It includes:

Swap Magic 3.6
HD Loader 3.5
HD Loader 7c
HD Advance 2.0
Zone Free DVD 2005
Magic Memory
Cog Swap Loader
CD Loader V7
HD Dump 0.8.1
USB Advance
And More!

I have never heard of that disc myself, just Swap Magic.
But everything you are doing looks right for making a normal back up.
A few things you can try.
1. update your burners firmware if there is an update on the web
2. shut down any other things that could be running in the backround or system tray like anti-virus software.
3. do not use the computer while burning them.
4. you can always try rebuilding it just in case
5. do your origianls load fine? i have know a few fliptops that when you replace the screws in the bottom it is too tight and back ups don't seeem to load.

a few questions.
what are you burning it from, an original disc?
If so are you burning the MDS file with DVD Decrypter?
Is it an ISO file you are trying to burn?

Yes, i have the latest firmware, that is the DL-13. I'm burning the MDS file as indicated in all the "How To's" for DVD Decrypter that i have read, I'm burning from original copies that load just fine on their own, I shut down EVERYTHING before i read or write including antivirus, spy program, even disconnect from the internet all together, and do not touch the computer while it's working. I'm thinking that Ultimate disc is probably the source of my troubles, Gonna order the Swap magic 3.6 from a different dealer and see what happens.

Hiya mate, try this: Open Nero start smart. Select media DVD on the dropdown toolbar on the top of the programme. select the 'data disc' tab select 'make udf/iso disc'. now open isobuster, open your iso. click the top file and shift down till everything is highlighted rip it to somewhere youll remember where it is and go back to Nero udf/iso disc compilation and copy the files you ripped via isobuster to the compilation and burn then maybe it'd work.

Your lucky i decided to look at this thread (i usually only read threads with no replies). You guys are making this too hard. You just have to follow the directions.

Your swap disc is a cd, so you need to do a toc refresh before you swap with your dvd backup.

Yeah, I only just stumbled across this thread too... if not I could have answered it for you.. next time remember to make your thread title meaningful, like "ultimate swap disc problem" or similar.. people, me included won't bother reading posts titled like "help me" or other meaningless stuff... it actually says in the forum rules to give your thread a good title if you have to post. That said, I'm glad you got it working and welcome to the forum :)

Hi all, i got the ultimate swap disk and flip-top(i actually ordered swap disk not ultimate pack) and when i try to play my original jap game on my us ps2, everytime i boot at the swapmagic screen it goes back to the ps2 browser screen. And when i select the disk there, it just goes black for a while then returns to the browser again.

well a couple of things, one Swap Magic doesn't boot everything, one thing if the game is bigger than the boot disc, it will NOT boot. Anything over 4.38GB will not boot, but thats generally for backups. Also, some games need to be patched in order to load on PS2, http://swapmagicfix.com, however what your doing right now should work. If anything i would just go to http://swapmagic3.com, and ask them your exact question. If anything, it could be you missed a step in installing the fliptop. If you can't boot a copied game or another foreign game, then you know something is wrong with your installation, and you may wanna doulbe check. Otherwise, if all's fine and good, then email swap magic themselves. But, it's always good to make sure you got your installation done right than going through extra hassale. Hope, this helps.
