Hi

I've been trying to burn a dvds using a samsung dvd writer (tsstcorp t552u) and each time I get a dma-driver error, crc error message, it then burns the dvd and hangs at the 100% completed.

I've tried several different times of media and had the same result.

Any help?

What brand of media are you using. Have you checked to see if your DMA is ON, heres a guide.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

If you dont have success then post a Nero log which you can find here, only the LAST one required

Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt

This one looks like your burner, I think it may be a Samsung. Go to link provided and ignore the others, just concentrate on this one.

Hi Gwendolin,
Sorry to jump in here, but i think i see what the main problem is going to be, and im going to have to bring in creaky on this one.
Quote:
nvatabus
That thing messes with the whole burn process, and i think the fix is to un-install those nvtabus drivers and let windows put its own drivers back in.
No matter what else we fix, this thing will stop the burning dead in its tracks until fixed. If i am correct.

i think there should be your burner drive listed there, not a virtual device.
I used to remeber the thread where creaky fixed it for someone, but i cant find it. I will PM him.

@MaxBurn, thanks for that, I thought it was unusual also so I punched in the model No for the burner and came up with Samsung. On closer examination I noticed the other DMAs were strange. Cheers.

Hi Gwen :)
I PMd creaky. He will probably pop in here and post the fix when he wakes up, if he ever sleeps.
I saw all those DMAs OFF for everything, and that clued me in on it.

Usually at least one is on for something.

- you haven't selected the Samsung burner, instead you've got the 'Image Recorder' there.... you need to select the Samsung from the drop down box up top of Nero session...

- Those nvatabus drivers are a pain for getting DMA sorted. there's a few threads with this solution, will have to dig around, but i think the gist is to remove the Nvidia drivers and use standard Microsoft ones.
Quote:

CdRomPeripheral : SCSIVAX DVD/CD-ROM 2.7a Vax347s Port 3 ID 3 DMA: Off
- if you still have trouble getting DMA to be ON, get shot of the virtual drives temporarily, fix DMA, then by all means reinstate the virtual drives; they can sometimes interfere with sorting DMA if i recall correctly

Looks like your on the right track, however the media you are using are letting you down. Try using Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony that are made in Japan and burn at 4X.

Surely the quality of the dvds isn't causing the error as I can use these fine on my other pc?

trust us, they're not the best quality. your burner's firmware is up to date, your Nero log looks fine, presuming the DMA stuff is sorted (must admit, the error "DMA-driver error, CRC error" is a new one on me and does sound like it could be contributing to your problem, but googling for it hasn't turned up much, so far it would appear this is a Nero 7 specific error), however apart from that, the only thing looking suspect is the discs..

Sorry to jump in, I'd figured my buddy creaky the Nero-nator should be able to help you tweak through this. However, I just want to throw in one more concern; the above error means that your burner is going down south. Try to disconnect the cable from the back of your burner, then plug it in back on. Make sure everything is placed in properly and tight. Try to burn again, if the above message/error "KEY_HARDWARE_ERROR" display again, then unfortunately it may be your burner that is going bad/south.

Existing drivers:
Also, it looks like you don't have any "existing drivers" at all. You should at least have one or two "under" existing drivers. Example for reference below:

File 'Drivers\ASPI32.SYS': Ver=4.71 (0002), size=16877 bytes, created 7/16/2002 7:53:02 PM
File 'Drivers\PXHELP20.SYS': Ver=2.03.18a, size=20576 bytes, created 10/8/2005 7:33:40 PM (Prassi/Veritas driver for win 2K)

Below is an example/successful burned log, taken from mine that I'd recently burned. You can compare mine to yours and you'll notice the "Existing drivers" that I'd mentioned.
