Is the ethernet cable that comes with the xbox 360 a crossover cable, i think i read that somewhere on these forums... Just wanna make sure before i waste my time trying it

Nope. A crossover cable is used only to connect 2 PC's together without a Router (a direct connection). What you have is a Patch cable.
