If I am not big on RPG games but I do want to pick one up and try it on the 360, should I pick up Oblivion or wait until next month for Final Fantasy? Thanks.

I personally prefer Oblivion over FFXI. I just don't care for turn based RPGs

i own oblivion and i must say it is by far one of the best rpg's EVER. you have total freedom in ever sense, and the character creation is phenomanal. I spent over 30 min just making my characters appearance. I havent played ffXI but from what i have gathered from xbox.com forums, is that the beta was extremely BAD. i'd go for oblivion, its a fucking awesome game

Well reading everything I am going to pick Oblivion. I do not understand why would you have to pay $10.00 a month for FF? This is the first time I am hearing this. Thanks for the help.

you get a lot more hours out of ffxi and you get to play online with other people...and betas are never as good as the actual game and with all the new things coming out in the new expansion for final fantasy xi should be way better come april 18th...oh and the $10 a month is to maintain the server almost all good mmorpgs have a monthly price tag now so its not just final fantasy...

i played FF XI for about 6 months on the PS2. that game is solid. i played it for hours. i would wake up early just to play. i can only image what the game paly must be like on the 360. FF xi is not turn based (not like the old FF games) i would recomend FF xi any day of the week. i had to stop playing the game as i was taking over my life.
i just picked up oblivion cant wait to play ;)

If you want to play free online, then you can only play some suck game like oblivion.
How do you compare the FFXI to Oblivion?

What about Guild Wars??? That's a great free MMORPG. Too bad PC only.

TheReturn: I have never played FFXI but I did pick up Oblivion and if FFXI is half as good I will pick FFXI also because Oblivion is a great game. I said I was not big on RPG games but I found myself playing Oblivion for three hours last night. The time did fly.

I had a problem this month: quite a few good games came out for both PS2 and Xbox 360 (the latter system being a recent purchase for yours truly). Unfortunately, I'm not Bill Gates, so I can't just buy every bloody game that comes out (or make, um, backups of them all - nor would I want to do so). At the moment, I'm weighing whether to buy Kingdom Hearts 2, or Oblivion. Hell, I'll probably end up buying both, but... Kingdom Hearts 2 looks great, but Oblivion looks fandamntastic... Choices, choices.
Now, as for Final Fantasy XI... I don't much care for MMORPGs, as they require way too much time and money to get much of anything out of them. I don't have that kind of time (or money) these days...
Hooray for being semi-poor!

I personally wouldent waste my money on a crappy port of a game that wasn't that good in the first place. as for the delima over oblivion and kingdom hearts 2, i liked kh1 but oblivion definitly takes the gold. Also if your not that into RPGs stay far far away from FFXI. only hard core fans seem to enjoy the game and I personaly find the series a little boring and unorganized. and i am not bashing on final fantasy i just dont like the series so dont even get defensive about it

fungus i couldent agree with you more.. after Final Fantasy 2 for the NES (IMO)the rest really didnt live up to much. FFXI is a MMO and plays like most other mmos. you have a warrior, a bard, white mage, black mage, theif, and so on and so on. just like very other mmo. FFXI dosent really have much to do with the rest of the series. you just run around.. kill 10 of these .. collect 3 of those. ohh look at me im at lv 60. those who have played know what im talking about.

have you heard that people have actually been buying the new dragon quest just for the final fantasy 12 demo. paying 50 bucks for a demo is just sad and pitifull in my opinion.

Oblivion is a good pick-up, however, Final Fantasy XI is a large MMORG that already has a lot of add-ons. I would recommend, if your system can handle it, to pick it up for PC. If not, get the 360 version. It really depends on what you want.

I find Oblivion is a lot better of an RPG than Final Fantasy 11, also the graphics put it to shame, but Final Fantasy prob has a better lasting appeal since it's online.

Lasting appeal in my opinion goes to Oblivion as well. the game I beleive spans over 16 square miles and it is set up for additional areas to be downloaded online.

Yea if i was to get FFXI or elder scrolls it would probably be the later choice..xi's beta version wasnt nething like i thought it would be and took me forever to even set it up/ download everything so i spend a total of 10 mins before i quit that game. I've heard a lot of good comments bout oblivion from others so i say get that. But for me right now FF XII on my modded ps2 is what ill be playing for another good month or so! love this game!!
