I use the Cog Swap Loader to play my backup PS2 DVDs, but when trying to do the same with a PS2 CD, it won't let me swap it. So, I figure Cog Swap is only for PS2 DVDs?
Does anyone know of an ELF that I can use to load PS2 CDs? Or, possibly have a method to load backup PS2 CDs using a memory card exploit?
I've found guides on here for everything from PS2 DVDs to PSX CDs, but nothing for PS2 CDs, so I thought I'd ask.
What I do now is I have a PSX disc I use as my trigger disc. I load up PS2Menu and select Cog Swap Loader. Then I switch the PSX disc with a PS2 DVD. I hit X and it says "Cog Swap" so I use the slide card I have and hit X again. That works fine.
But, I tried to do the same with a PS2 CD and it won't work. I get to Cog Swap and I put in an original PS2 CD and it shows up as "PS2 CD". But when I hit X, it just runs the game rather then letting me swap it.
So, I thought maybe it would let me if I just switched it when it says "PS2 CD", but then it never goes anywhere. The PS2 just makes loud noises and it just sits there. I just am curious if there's something else I need to do, or what?
dude i just seen your thread .... is your cog swap loader just a copy? or an orginal disk ? and never mind the slide tool ect because i have loads of them, isit free to use that method... please answer
Cog Swap Loader. It's a program I loaded onto the memory card using a memory card exploit. Yes it's free; all I needed was a USB pen drive. I was hoping that there was maybe an ELF similar to that of "Cog Swap Loader" that would let me load PS2 CDs rather than DVDs. Oh well, I'll keep at it.
It requires Codebreaker and a Pen Drive to do though. There are other guides on the internet for this kind of thing, as well as on this forum, if you look. Just search for the "Independence Exploit" on Google and you'll find various ways to do it. Or look around in the DVD backup section on here.
BTW, I thought I found a new way of doing what I wanted to do; load PS2 CD from the exploit. Well, I tried two different techniques. Both have potiential. It looks like CogSwapLoader does allow for CD swapping, but you have to do it twice. I guess the CD automatically stops spinning, so you don't need to hit X with it. But, when you swap the PS2 CD with a CD-R the first time the image on the screen goes away and it no longer says "PS2 CD". If you then stick in the PS2 CD once more and have it say "PS2 CD" again, then swap it out for the burned PS2 CD, it loads it.
The problem with mine is that it just went to a black screen and my CD was spinning and going nuts. Maybe it's bad media or maybe the game just doesn't want to work or who knows what, but this may be how to do it.
I also read (on these forums) that some people use CDLoader, burned to a CD-R to load their CDs by using SwapMagic first and then switching it to CDLoader and then swaping that out for the CD. I tried that too, but with the same results; black screen, spinning like crazy..
I'll go see if I can find a different media to use to burn this CD with and see if that won't fix the problem. I'm just using what I have here (Memorex) to burn it to. I know the DVD section has a media chart, but CD-R media is different than DVD-R media, so I'll have to find another chart or something. If I can come up with anything to get this to work, maybe I'll post up a guide.
