Okay here is my situation. I will have a 360 in the next few weeks and want to go onto xbox live with it. I do not have a wireless home network. I have a 4mb broadband connection, but my modem is connected to my computer upstairs, and my tv is like 30meters away downstairs, and this is where my 360 will go. Now how would I go about connecting to xbox live in this scenario?
well firstly you will need a subscribsion card, then a wire going from your modem to the xbox 360, or if you have moeny then you can buy a wireless router and a wireless adapter for the xbox 360.
the cheapest way, would be to buy a long enough cat5 cable, and then just use it when u want to be on live, and just switch back and forth between the comp and the 360. (cheapest way mind u)
Spend the extra $70 or so, and buy a wireless router. Its worth saving the pain-in-the-ass hassles of having to plug and unplug everytime you switch between your PC and 360.
firstly, if I get a wireless router, does it mean that I still have to get that wireless network adaptor for the 360, which costs a bomb alone. (I don't want a cat5 cable, becoz it would look a mess going from my room, down the stairs, and into the hallway to get to the living room!
2nd: I believe that there are things designed for the ds and psp, which allow you to plug something into your usb of your computer, which creates a wireless signal, that allows you to go wireless with your psp. Can this just be bought instead of a wireless router, or am I just chatting grade a bull plop?
even w/ the ds/psp ubs-dongle, you'd still be required to buy the 360wireless adapter, even w/ the wireless modem.
i just run a CAT5 cable to the 360 when i want to play on live or update my gamerscore otherwise it's in my office out of the way, not constantly running down the hallway to the living room.
yes it's a hassle, but it's cheaper then wireless, and i don't have to worry about dropping the $100 bones on the wireless adapter and then another $70 bones or so on the wireless router. just drop $50 bones and buy a 100' CAT5....cheaper but still effective. (and i just prefer wired connection for gaming.
