Recently, I have had some problems ripping successful copies of DVD's with Mac the Ripper. The titles were "The Fog" (the remake), "Capote," and "The Squid and the Whale." There must be a new type of encryption on these DVD's. What happens when you use Mac the Ripper on these is that the Bad Sectors warning pops up and asks to delete or pad the sectors. When you try to play the copy on a DVD player, it jumps ahead approximately 20 minutes into the movie. Has anyone else noticed this problem and has anyone figured out a way to get around it?

I'm having the same problem with "the squid and the whale" and I don't plan on buying a PC. Anyone else have a suggestion?

The problems seem to be with DVD's from Sony Classics/Columbia. I am not sure if this is a new type of encryption that is deliberate, or if these discs were manufactured poorly. If this is a new stop-copy process, then the current version of Mac the Ripper may soon be obsolete when it comes to major studio DVD's. Has anyone found a solution to the problem or know of an alternative to Mac the Ripper?

Have you checked to see if there's a newer version of Mac the Ripper?
Maybe a newer version has addressed this issue? I don't know of any programs like AnyDVD for the Mac.

Is it asking you to do that, or asking if you want it, to do that? Which did you do?
