Ok, I know how to burn, I have Swap Magic coming tommorrow so I am all set there. I backed up Madden 06 and Evil Dead Fistfull of Boomstick to test out first thing.

My noob question is: Is there a list of games that work no problem with Swap Magic that do not need patches or rebuilding etc?

Basically I want to get a bunch of games this weekend to backup but I want to stay away from any Games that will cause me trouble since I am new to this all and I want to get the burning and swapping down first before i venture into patches and rebuilding etc.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Thanx!

You shouldnt have much trouble with any game under single layer. But if it is a double layer disc then you will have to rebuild and fit the DVD9 to a DVD5 disc. Due to swap magic cant handle DL media.

i don't know of a list. you can check out swapmagicfix.com and they list a bunch on there that i would stay clear of when starting out.
Other than Swap Magic, what else are you using to load your back ups?
Swap Magic alone is not going to do it. I hope you knew this and i did not just crush our buzz.

Good point steimy.

I didnt think of asking or teeling him that he needs a fliptop or a slide tool to swap the disc.

Alot of people do over look that when buying Swap Magic discs.

@backohead You will need some sort of way to swap the disc without hitting the eject button. Doing this will reset the PS2 and wont let you boot your backup disc. So hopfully you knew this and got the slide tool or fliptop to use with the swap disc.

Yes, The Swap Magic discs I bought come with the slide tool. Is that complicated to use? I was bummed when I got home yesterday. The package I got was not the Swap Magic but something else. Hopefully it comes today so I can mess with it this weekend.

I was thinking of getting the flip top add on instead of the slide tool but I figured I will learn the basics for now and pick up the flip top thingy later.

Is it hard to get the hang of the slide tool?

hello,
its not hard to use the slide card, maybe a bit tricky at first, and you may snap/break the front tray when you remove it,so be careful

slidecards are a pain to use compared to a fliptop. I say if you have the money then get one and save yourself the hassle that comes with using the slidecard.

It isnt hard to take off the top of the PS2 and replace it with a fliptop.

I have a fliptop and love it compared to the slide tool. All you need to do is replace the top with the flip top and your done with it. It's easy to swap disc once you get it installed just lift the top switch disc and flip back down. How much easier could that be?

I agrree with Steimy I would invest in a fliptop. Was well worth the money and didnt cost much.

Here ya go just incase you get stuck;

http://www.modchipstore.com/Slide-Card-Operation-Manual-24.html

As the handy people at swap magic forget one thing (instructions) MOST people will have trouble using it first time round without any instructions.

Also the slide card does come as second nature after a while, but after a month you just think right after all the money I'v saved on NOT being ripped of by the major companies (PS2 games), I'm gonna make my life a hell of a lot easier and get a flip top, which is probably easier installing than it is to remove the front cover of the DVD drive in the first place.
