Ok i just urchased a xbox 360 core system and a s-video cable so i can use my dolby digital surround sound system i support 5.1 surround sound and dolby digital prologic 1 and 2

but when i connect my 360 using digital sound the s-video digiral adapter doesn't work i have the correct settings in the dashboard
i have the correct surround sound system and nothing no sound at all

any one have any ideas why????

S-video is only for the picture.

Anyway, s-video is crap. You want component cables (Red, Green, Blue)...and if your 5.1 receiver doesn't support component cables, your receiver is crap too. Also, for true 5.1 sound, you had better have optical audio wires too...or else you're not really getting 5.1, even though your crap receiver might be telling you that you are.

I agreed with Logjammer too.

If you require a guide to set up a really good surround sound system, here is a link for a type of cables for your surround sound system:
