I'm hoping someone can assist me with a couple questions I have.
Q1. I got a video ipod a couple days ago (30gb new) I noticed that when I play videos on it the battery dies super fast. Is this common? As compared to simply playing music?
Q2. I have 3 kids who all now have an ipod, the problem we have is that we use 1 itues to upload the files to the 3 ipods. However they don't all like the same songs, but when we plug in the ipods they all get updated with the same songs. Can we use 1 itunes and somehow tell it which ipod to put what tune on? Further, is there a way to delete songs from an ipod, using the ipod itself to delete the songs?
Thanks for your assistance. I will do what you mentioned. When I said that the battery goes fast, I'm guessing all I get is between 30-50 mins or so. Is that normal?

Well, it can happen -- especially if you are running high quality video at maximum volume. If you charge your battery fully, you should get at least one full movie out of your iPod -- so long as you stick to a reasonable volume. 50 minutes is a little short, but can be expected if you are 'maxing out' your iPod.
I drained the battery last night fully, then charged it. This AM I ran a test, running videos on it and I got about 1.5 hrs. So my original comment was incorrect. I guess that is somewhat normal then for video use? I read in another post that there is supposed to be some sort of external battery one can attach to an ipod for longer life. Is that available yet?

1.5 hours sounds a lot more reasonable for continued video playback.
Yes, there is a product designed to increase the iPod's battery. In fact, there are mmany battery packs available.
But a new Belkin battery pack claims to increase your battery life by 300% (Gives you an additional 6 hours play time)
Should ship by the end of the month to residents of the US and Canada, so it's probably worth waiting out for -- rather than hastily purchasing a second rate one now.
I wonder if it actually increases the battery life by 300% because maybe they are referring to specific settings on the iPod such as no backlight and low volume, just like apple screwed everybody else, lol

Their guidelines will apply to average usage, just like every other product. Apple haven't screwed anyone over, as most stated battery lives on electrical goods seem exaggerated.
