ok, never had this problem before. Have burnt tons of games. I rented LOTR-Return of the king(NTSC)(of course I already own it) burned it with dvd decrypter at both 4x and 2x with genuine taiyo yudens and its freezing at the loading screen? I have a duo chip. Can't be a bad iso, since it was ripped successfully. Is this a DVD9 game? anyone have any ideas on this one?

Hi
this is not a DVD9 game. i backed this up with no problems, are you using DVD+R as i have known games to freeze with DVD+R in my experience DVD-R works better.

I personally burn at 4x on 8x discs. There is no cardinal rule per se, but when a game loads, then lags and skips constantly, it's an indication that the PS2 can't read the data fast enough to keep up with the game. In that instance, often burning at higher speeds can resolve the problem. I've never had any issues burning at 4x on quality TYG02/Yuden000T02 media. 4x is a good starting point, but it's not absolute, as you experienced firsthand. Everybody's burner is different. You just need to experiment and see what works for you. V.4 PS2's and later should read DVD+R's booktyped to DVD-ROM fine. DVD+R's tend to be of better quality, DVD-R's tend to have better universal compatibility with the PS2, especially v1-3's.
