When every i play Age of Empires 3, or Half Life 2, Or Elderscrolls 4 Oblivion after 15 or 20 minuites my pc seems just reboot on its own but not properly. At first the screen goes black and i can hear whats going on in the game, then the pc sounds like it is rebooting yet the screen does not come back on so i have to completley turn off my pc to get the screen back. Can anyone please tell me why it just seems to reboot like that ?

Hi Jayb118,
Your computer is not solid.
It could be crashing for any number of reasons - a chain is only as strong as the weakest link.
Your BIOS must be properly configured and setup! All the Windows-tinkering in the world will not correct an unfortunate hardware setup.
Your CPU, FSB and memory should not be overclocked, and your memory must run conservative latencies (ie. SPD timing).
Are you running dual-channel (128-bit) memory?
This is the problem you will get when your memory is cranky and acting up; these sort of lock-up crashes.
Apart from these issues, of course over-heat can introduce this type of instability too.
Check all your temps, and fans & coolers, first.
Then your hardware configuration and setup incl. memory timings in BIOS.
Then your OS.
This is an efficient order for your troubleshooting to proceed...
Regards

Hi The_OGS thank you for your suggestions however i am not sure what i am looking for in the BIOS since i am kind of a noob when it comes to that. Also i do not think the problem is heat related since my pc does not feel hot and i can play Quake4 and Doom3 with no problems and they're quite demanding games. I have made a short list of the things listed on my BIOS splash screen if they are any help though.

Bios Version - P4VM8 BIOS P1.00
Processor Type - Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHZ
Processor Speed - 3000 MHZ
Cache Size - 1024 MB
Total Memory - 1024 MB
DIMM 1 - 512MB/166 MHZ (DDR333)
DIMM 2 - 512MB/166 MHZ (DDR333)

BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 768_1

I sent the report to microsoft and they said it was an undetermined device failure.
Is this any help at all?

The temperature goes between 70 and 80 degrees C. Do you think im going to have to format ? i've looked at loads of threats about this problem and none of them seem to work :(

No - but I think you should keep a fire extinguisher handy!
A format will not help cool your CPU.
My CPU is 33C right now, and might hit ~55C under full load.
You better re/re your CPU cooler (and your whole cooling overview) Jayb118, those temps are way too high...
That can cause your PC to reboot unexpectedly, LoL :^)

Well i never thought heat was the problem but it was :) thanks guys :) lol i have made some crude adjustments to reduce heat until i can get a pci fan. I removed the left side of the case, moved a desk lamp that gets hot off of my desk, and left the window open most of the time and that seems to work, i have lowered my cpu temp down to averages of 55 degrees, still high i know but i will get a new fan soon so hopefully that will sort things. Thank You for all your help :)

Hi
Checkout your system temps using speedfan http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php its takes a bit of configuring you will need to register to get the configs but its free. With the new heat sink you should maybe invest in a faster fan for the back of your case and if you have room put a fan in the front of the case to suck air in, make sure fans are installed the right way (in at the front out at the back)
