Audiovox VOD808 player problem.

My sisters mobile DVD player recenlty went out in her minivan.
It is an audiovox VOD808. The picture is scrambled regardless of what input you have selected (DVD, TV, AUX). Everything was fine but she went to play a burned DVD and the picture became scrambled after that.

She called audivox and explained the problem to them and the tech told here something like when the players are all built they have them set up for PAL video and they just overwrite the chips of the ones for NTSC and if you put in a DVD in PAL format the chip inside the player will go back to PAL. I am not sure if the disc that here husband burned was PAL or NTSC. The tech told her the only way it could be fixed is if she sent the player back to them.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem with this player or other players? I checked audiovox's site for any info and came up empty handed. I would think you would be able to flash the firmware back to NTSC but have no idea how to do it.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
