160gb hdd MFT?

I use diskeeper 10 and after a recent analysis it said C/ drive critical. And that i needed to increase the MFT, which i did. and analyzed again and gave the ok, its recently defragmented, and has 70% space left. After the MFT increase to 50% my computer is very slow, ram not the prob, 1gb, pentium 4 processor 3.ghz. Could the increase in paging file be the culprit? any suggestions appreciated, thanks
