I have a problem finding an iso file for burning in the Godfather PS2 download. All the files show up as gfp-dgr(not win RAR,).Right-clicking them did'nt allow the option to open them with win-rar so I joined them in HJ split as suggested in the forums, and tried WinRAR again.WinRAR gave me a familiar looking rar icon named gfp-dgr-iso ( which looked encouraging)However when trying to extract it the progress meter got as far as 27% then stopped and this message popped up;
'you need to have the following volume to continue extraction...which ended with gfp-dgr-r00.
'Insert a disk with this volume and press ok to try again'
I've hit a brick wall with this one. Any ideas out there?

hello

i dont know why you are having problems with a simple unpacking of a dagger release

open WinRAR and check the following settings for me

winrar/options/settings/intergration...is the associate WinRAR with ISO tab ticked,if yes, untick it

Yes Ive tried that and it does exactly the same as before.Could the problem be that maybe your suggestion should have been done before the files were joined in HJ split? If so is it possible to successfully 'unsplit' them and try again?

have you tried to open the original (not the file you joined) manually with WinRAR? Some file will not open with the right click method. Very few of them but i have run into a few.
You do this by opening WinRAR and then do the File->Open and browse for the first DGR file, then load it into WinRAR, from there you can extract it.

hello

if you have joined them hj split there is no need to extract them

hj split is not like WinRAR,when a upload is done and hj split is used, there is no compression involved, its just a case of splitting the iso into small parts to avoid errors when uploading/downloading

if and when you get a download consisting of hj split files, you simply join them back together and burn the iso

maybe you PM the link for the torrent file so i could take a look

Have you tried manually opening any of the .rars with winrar? They may not have the .rar extension or the rar logo but they should still open with winrar.

Just right click on any of them and open with winrar. Then extract. If it dont work try loading the torrent deleting one of the .rars and loading up the torrent again as you may have got a bad hash check when downloading. Goodluck!

Ive tried all the various methods as suggested (with the same negative result) but after again failing to extract in WinRAR I paid more attention to the error message in the diagnostic box.Its my fault that I did'nt scroll across to get the complete message that was no doubt there from my first attempt( sorry guys!)Anyway, this is it,
'...CRC failed in gfp-dgr.iso.the file is corrupt'

So basically what now? do I dump all the files( which took two days to download!)and try a new torrent ( can an NTSC game convert to PAL if I choose that road?)or as ivlark_uk suggested.."..deleting one of the .rars and loading up the torrent again as you may have got a bad hash check.."( I would need instructions on that one)
Im quite annoyed really because I seeded the files 150% and no doubt created the same problem for other people.Anyway, you live and learn.
Let me know your thoughts.

hello

post me a screen shot of the files you have,i will sort this out for you if its the last thing i do
edit, did the files actuall join togther with hj split?

if so,you just burn the iso

rar file and files that have been simply split, almost look the ame

rar file look like this abc.abc.001 (you get the idea)

abc has been put there for an example

split files without compression look like this abc.ISO.001

note the ISO could be MDF/ISO or any image extension

I dont know what happened but I went back over everything twice and I unzipped one of the files from the middle of the pack only this time it went farther in the progress meter and it looked like it would complete. I cancelled it before it finished because I wasn't sure of the destination folder and tried again with the tgf-dgr oo1 file ( the original troublesome one)Lo and behold it unzipped successfully to a folder on my desktop where I recognised the familiar MDS file.Straight to DVD Decrypter and 20 minutes later I had a perfect playable copy on the PS2!
It's still a mystery to me as to why it wasn't so straightforward in the first place ( because I was getting a corrupted file message)but I can live with that now that the problem has been solved and I get a buzz out of that. Thanks for everyones time and help ( especially ps2hacka)and I've certainly learned from the experience.
Bye, Kellmor.

Congrat :D

It happens to me all the time, I just delete one of the .rars, doesnt matter which one then reload the torrent in Azureus, it checks the file again and downloads any missing bits and presto. Sometimes I have to do this process 2 or 3 times.

Welldone though good game too :)

yes, some files are just like that. Let me know if your Ghost Recon works. I have a friend who just backed it up and says the intro plays fine, then goes to the language loading screen, he selects the language and it goes black for a few seconds then back to that language screen.
