i am copying 2 other posts from another forums that explain the whole situation

Post 1:

ok, i have gone back and burnt some media.......but now i am having serious problems.....out of about 10-12 different dvd-rs that i have burnt, only about 4 of them work !!! the burnt them at 4x, cuz i dont have a 2x option...my pc can read the burnt dvds, but the ps2 doesnt read them, sometimes it makes slight 'clicking' or 'slipping' sounds.....i just changed my laser about 2 months ago, and hardly use it cuz i play off the HDD........i dont know whats wrong.....does the ps2 have such bad compatibility, or is it just me ?

i have had an image of soul calibur 3 for about 4 months in my ps2 and decided to make a hard copy of it....i have wasted 3 dvd-rs on it so far, with no success on the ps2.....

EDIT: some details:

sorry, i forgot to mention the techy bits...

well, i have a PAL (machine ID changed to NTSC through) PS2 v5/6 with Messiah chip...
i am direct booting the DVDR-s
i am not patching the games in any way (except DNA$ when needed)....

the few the worked were :

MGS3 Subsistence (Disc 2) *thank God :P* (first copy worked)
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow (first copy worked)
Colin McRae Rally 2005 ((first copy didnt work, second did))
Burnout 3 ((first copy didnt work, second did))

those that completely didnt worked
Soul Calibur 3 (3 tries, all failed)
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (1 try, failed)
Killzone (2 tries, both failed)

Post 2:

ok here is some more detail....

i got two media DVD-Rs, Sony: SONY08D1, Maxell: RITEKG05

on the maxell one, i tried burning soul calibur III ****again***...and guess what ? it STILL doesnt work !!!!!!!!!! thats 4 tries and still not working.....

i burnt at 4x -- 2x was not available

i have tried loading up the soul calibur 3 copies, through many loaders, and also tried to boot the ELF file, but they all get stuck as if their are some bad sectors....

is it possible to implant some bad sectors in a PS2 game ? so that if a copy is made, it always gets stuck ? cuz i have burnt this 4 times !!! there has to be some other reason.....

i remember that it was the Echleon release of soul calibur 3.....

on the Sony disc, i burnt a backup of SSX 3...it works partly....that is, when i load it up.....it freezes after the memory card loading...

i got it working online like this : i started this backup...let it load till the memory card loading part....then i take it out and run the original backup (non-DNA$) and let it continue from there....when it starts to play the ssx3 intro video, i take it out, and again put in the Sony backup, and i press X like hell to skip the intro (it cant play it properly)...

but anyway...is there is solution to all this confusion ???

i have tried both Nero and DVD Decrypter, and get the same result...also, i just replaced my laser about 2 months ago, and i hardly use the laser because i run games of the HDD....so i doubt the laser is at a fault...
