Again, I'm used to using Shrink. Normally, I'd cut out all the crappy intro previews and just leave the movie. Since I can retain menu functionality with RB, is there anyway for me to preview what the files are within RB like Shrink does, or do I just need to pull it up in Shrink, note what I want to cut, then cut it in RB?

There's a preview/edit function in RB also. Look in the Help file. It outlines RBs features...

You will have to do your backup in three button mode instead of 1click in order to use the preview/edit feature. After your file has gone through the prep phase, you can edit. Then go on to the encode and rebuild phases.

Thanks!

I finally found the info in the help file after scouring through it. I'm playing around with it right now.

I still can't get it. I unclick the show only specials box. I can see the list of everything, but I never get the preview segment editor like the help file shows. The box always stays black, and click on the files only changes the options to blanked out, slideshow, or no encode. I can never get a preview windows like it shows in the help file. I've tried preparing it over three times and its the same thing each time. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, I just don't know what it is.

single click/high light should play the segment while double clicking will change your options ie... still, blank, force re-encode

now some segments may just start black, while there is some odd authoring that will put empty segments into the film

I figured a single click should do it. But it doesn't. I'm going to try and reinstall.

It still doesn't work after reinstall.

I searched for osx in the folder and it found none.

I guess what stumps me is I can't get the screen shown in the help file, the preview segment editor. I don't know if that was changed from that version of help. But single click does nothing, and it doesn't bring up the other editor window.

in the nelp file your looking @ the same screen just w/ two different skins the top being rockas original the bottom being default each accesses the segment editro in a different way, ie the windows tabed skins will just let you click on a tab, the others you have to open the viewer through settings menu,

which skin are you using??

btw the files names I was asking if you had is MSWINSCK.OSX & MSCOMCTL.OSX they should be located in the same directory as the skins and apps folders
if these files are truely missing then you should dl the full installation package and start fresh

Thanks for all the help.

The files osx files were there, and I changed the skin and got the segment viewer editor, but it still won't play. I'm going to reinstall again. If it still doesn't work, I'm stumped.

I guess I could go back to shrink to find what I want to cut out. That would work, but also be extremely tedious. The big draw to me for this program was the better encoding and the ability to retain menu functionality when cutting things out.

Anyway, thanks again for all the help!

here is a last guess
what is your default player windvd, windows media player

if you are able to view the movie's through either you should be able to use the eidtor,if not you will need codecs, other than that I'm kinda stumped.

Windows Media is my default player. How would I play them through it? Right now, all I have is what is in the temp folder, and nothing in there seems to be playable through WMP.

Okay, just a guess on my part I am still learning but when you go through the prep phase all you have is the nav files from avisynth. When you installed avisynth did you tell it to associate these files with WMP, because if not that may be the reason they are not playing. But I could be off track.

Go into setup and check to see that the "path to decoder" is set. DVD RB will prepare even if the rest is not setup but it won't let you play previews. Once that's done you'll have to run the prepare phase over again.

It is set to c:\program files\software\DVD-RB Pro\DGDencode.dll and the file is there. I don't know if that is where it should be or not.

If you used the installer version then that's correct. Next question. What version of Avisynth did you install?
