I have this problem as well. Has anyone found a solution? I'm looking through other threads but haven't found anything yet. I'm burning on TDK DVD-R's which is what my ps2 likes better, at slow speeds, but I get slow loadings. This happened on other peoples consoles as well, so it isn't my machine.

Ive posted this in all these godfather topics.

in my case I rebuilt the iso and wrote to a Sony DVD+R as DVD-ROM book type and it works great now.

When i tried to burn the non-rebuilt iso I had all the problems mentioned that u guys are having.

theres a whole gig of dud space thats removed when re-built

What files do you dummy and whatever? When I rebuilt Path of Neo because it didn't work I didn't know what files I could take out, so I just rebuilt it with all the same files and just skipped the dummying and relinking stuff using the EXPERT Tool, and it still worked fine. Is that what I should do when rebuilding the Godfather?

Do you really think that'll help at all? I mean TDKs and SONYs are both listed as first class media in another thread on this forum. Most of my TDK -Rs work fine. But I have poor loading times with Fight Night Round 3 and the Godfather.
I might try a rebuild first and then try a SONY. It sounds like I'm with a 50-50 chance of getting a Coaster......just hope I don't get 2.

If it's not the media it could be that your laser needs a slight adjustment... What ver PS2 are you using? I know on my Ver 4 PS2 I had some problems with SOME games i had burned but on my Ver 7 the same discs play fine...

there are no dummy files in the godfather.

all you need to do is rebuilt the iso with the exact same files using the tutorials, and if you want much higher chance of a sucesfull burn, use DVD+R dvds and make sure the "DVD-ROM" booktype option is selected and you shouldn't have any problems.

ive heard people had no probs with DVD-R but I had alot of skipping so got +R's and used DVD-ROM booktype burn option and it works fine.

OK....I went to a shop to get my laser checked and everything, they said it was fine. They even tried my disc on on PS2s they had in the store, including Slimline ones, and they all had the same skipping problem....so it is something with either the disc or the way it was burnt. The thing is I haven't had many troubles with other games, except for the Godfather and Fight Night Round 3, so usually the method works. I'm gonna try rebuilding it, and see how it goes.

OK, I tried rebuilding it and now it works fine. Still using the same discs (TDK -Rs), and now the ISO is about 1GB smaller than before. I suggest anyone that did have the same problem that I had (slow loading times) should try rebuilding it and burning again. This also helped me out with Fight Night Round 3, so give it a go.

http://www.ps2hd.com/forums/faq.php?faq=dvdshrink#faq_shrink001

Why It Is Possible To Shrink Games
Many PS2 Games use dummy files to fill space on the dvd for many reasons. Improved disk access, protection and other possible reasons. Well with HDLoader improved disk access is not necessary so removing the dummy files will simply reduce the image size and not affect the game in most cases, reclaiming unused space on the HD. Some Games do not use dummy files, they use false LBA information and simply following these steps without replacing dummy files (because there are none) to adjust the LBA information to reduce the size of the image. Notice some games with false LBA info will not like having that LBA information changed, although in most cases it just reduces the size. Some games are unshrinkable due to it truly being a large game and has no dummy files or messing with the LBA causes problems with possible disk protections.

Also note that you cannot use the modified image to put on a dvd and have it actually work, properly.

Aparently The Godfather has False LBA
