Hi, I am a pure noob so be nice. I have recently started backing up my PS2 games and am getting along nicely. However the EA games (Fight night 3, Black, Fifa Street) are not working properly, ie jumping, taking ages to load etc. I have heard that when you backup EA games that you need to apply a patch to make the copy work correctly.

Can anyone point me in the direction of these patches or a guide on what I need to do, bearing in mind that I have never done this before so be gentle!!!

Thankyou for any help

You can get the patches at http://www.swapmagicfix.com. Not every EA game needs a patch, but I know that FIFA Street does. The problem that you are more than likely running into is with the burning process. What type of media are you using (ie - Sony 8X DVD-R) and what speed are you burning your discs at. You may also want to check and see if your firmware has been updated. There is a link for that in my profile page. Also, have you ever tried rebuilding a game? This will usually solve the stuttering and slow loading times.

Edit: Added ?'s

I am using DVD Dycrypter and Verbatim DVD-R. I am selecting 1x burn speed, however when it burns it seems to run at 2.4x, so I assume my burner cannot burn at 1x. I will check out the firmware when I get home from work. I have never tried re-building a game, is there a guide or anything I can use?

Thanks

About the rebuilding portion, there are a couple stickied threads at the top of the DVD Backup section that cover it. You can also do a search for a program called ExPERT (by Gnie). It does the same thing as the other guides, but it only uses one program for the entire process.

Edit: Just saw the second post. You might have troubles with those 16X DVD's. A lot of people do! You could try burning them at 4X to see if that will help; otherwise, I'd recommend getting some 8X. They work a whole lot better!
