what is the differences between these two resolutions and which is better?

Thats kind of a silly question. 720p is the resolution of some HD source matirial. 768p is the native resolution of some fixed pixel displays (FPD). Since the source matirial is going to be 720p not 768p, tv sets with a 768p native resolution will have to scale 720p images to 768p. It isn't a very difficult proccess and there is no gain or loss in reslolution or picture quality.

720p and 768p displays will look the same when feed the same signals (assuming proper viewing distance and calibration).

Do you understand what I mean?

Yeah i understand now. I was thinking about getting the new Samsung LN-S3251D 32" flat panel lcd tv that just came out or maybe even the 40" in this same model and it has 768p, so i wanted to make sure i wasnt getting a resolution that wasnt inferior to 720p.

You have any thoughts on the new samsung? i liked it because it has 2 hdmi's(which after doing some shopping around, i found it was rare in lcd flat panels under 42 inches) and i heard it displays a nice picture. thats why i might go for it considering those two specs. I want the best flat panel lcd display around 40 inches that had two hdmi's and was under $3500
