dvdSanta and WinAvi stopped encoding, Why?

I hope this question isnt too general but what could cause both of these programs to stop encoding? (dvdSanta & WinAvi) I can select the the .AVI file to be encoded to DVD and then hit encode and both applications stop and has to close stating an error has occurred. I really relied on dvdSanta. I have uninstalled and installed it 3 times.

I'm encoding a TV show and i could use Nero but i have the sound synch problem with Nero.

Any thoughts?

Hard to pin point what is crashing and why without more info.

Sync problem fix [I copied from another thread]:

I always test my avi's now with this awesome free app! AVI-MUX GUI.

simple as pie it reads the AVI and tells you the MS delay needed and will correct it on save as etc...

drag and drop your AVI into top window, highlight with mouse, then click button underneath stats...

then highlight the bottom it just loaded in and it will show you the ms delay (if there is one?) then all you do is click save as, and it makes a new file/AVI
