hi all can anyone please help me.
i want to make a back up copy of one of my dvd's its about 7gig and i am trying to shrink it to a normal dvd 4.7gig,but went i have shrunk the dvd and go to play the film on my dvd player my dvd player once its starts the movie it just keeps skipping the chapters and i cannot stop this.
does anybody have any idears THANX FOR LOOKING.

usually skipping and pixelations are caused by low class media or by burning too fast for the media used! what movie are you backing up? what speed are you burning to disk? what media are your disks?

Using first class media will stop a lot of problems later on. Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxel are just a few first class media that produces great results. here is a media guide that might help you: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
use DVDInfo Pro, Nero Info tool, or DVDIdentifier to find your manufacturer ID of the disk being used..... then you can see where your disk is on the guide. Rule of thumb is to buy Made In Japan disks and you can't go wrong!

if you are using inferior disks like Memosux or others that are CMC Mags.... then try returning the disks... if you can't and you are stuck with them try burning at no more than 4x and not too close to the outer edge of the disk (4384kbs), you might get lucky and stop the skipping get it to work for a little while! good luck.

thanx for your help i have taken off dvd shrinker and put on DVD Shrink.
works a treat and it seams to be much easyer to use.

In the case that you are using decent to high class media and are still having problems burning/reading...you could check to see if there are firmware updates for your drive...
