sony DRx-500ul write speeds??? only 4x

I have a sony DRx-500ul and the only speed burning software will allow me to burn is 4x. I have installed all updates from sony and have tried nero(newest), alcohol 120%, record now, and sony extreme cd. Does any one know how i can fix this because I want to burn at slower speeds.

nero (whichever version) lets you change the burning speed before you burn a disc

after i update fw500a20f.exe, my 500UL burn
dvd-r(1X) at 1X only, before it burn up to 2X with fw500a10g.exe with same kind of dvd-r(1X).
so please check it out before update to 20f from 10g.
do you have same problem after convert?
or just my own mistake?
should i back to fw500a10g.exe?
