Please turn your caps off, it is against forum rule, it is considered shouting. If you are having this problem make sure you are not burning too fast, keep it at 4x. Set your target size to 4360 in Shrink, you may be burning too close to the edge. As far as your daughters player goes maybe hers does not play +R format disks. Are you booktyping them to dvd-rom, if your burner is capable of this. Also, check and make sure your burners firmware is up to date. Use the Nero Info Tool, if you have it, to check the current version. Or if you have DVD Decrypter open it use the Tools Tab, choose Drive in the sidebar then Capabilities. Go here and see what the current version is for your drive.
There are three things that will typically cause the freezing up twards the end of the movie:
1)poor quality media
2)burning too fast
3)burning too close to the disk's outer edge
so, try...
1)Try using media considered to be good quality stuff, I personally use Sony's DVD+Rs (make sure it states on the package, made in Japan), you could also try verbatim or Toyo Yuden.
Note: I see you state you use SONY DVD+Rs, just make sure of where they're manufactured (The ones I use state on the package..made in Japan)
2) Slow down the write/burn speed to 4x (this is what's considered to be the sweet spot).
3)Have DVD Shrink create smaller file sizes of 4300MB so as not to burn too close to the disk's outer edge. Run shrink and goto:edit-->preferences, in the preferences tab choose custom from the dropdown menu and enter a value of 4300.
Give these things a shot and I'm sure you'll be happy with the results.

Check to see what media format the players are designed to recognize and play, some only play DVD-Rs, some only DVD+Rs, and some play both formats or all including +/-RWs, check the manual for each player. Older players will only recognize and play DVD-ROM disks, if using DVD+R media, you can booktype the DVD+R disks as DVD-ROMs to fool the player into playing it.
Note: To booktype a disk you must use DVD+R disks and your burner must support this feature (usually a firmware update will do it, if supplied by the burner's manufacturer's).
