Okay, thanks go out to Paul1085 and Tokijin for teaching me that good media does make a difference. Now that that is settled, what can I do about it. I just recieved a 50-pack of TY's and was wondering. If I go back and make copies of my working games would it make a difference or is the damage already done? Thanx in advance.

Hi can you look very closely on the inner rim and tell me what code is laser etched? (its very small but should be something like GG000*** if its Authentic TY 8x DVD-R)
Also what I did when I transfered over to TY was chuck all the PS2 discs out that I still had on my computer and just burned the ISO's on my computer to TY and for the ones that weren't on my computer I just did a direct disc copy of all my cr**py CMC MAGS to TY and all of them have worked perfectly for the last 3 months, the general idea in this is all the cr**py media would start becoming unusable but if they are burned to TY's this prolongs the life of what is written onto the DVD and so you will still have usable backups in the years to come.
Hope this helps.

Yes, they are authentic TY's. I got them from supermediastore.com and used DVDidentifier on them to make sure. Thanks for the response. So Making more copies pretty much wont help any of the stuttering that some of my backups do during FMV sequences, right?

i would give one a try. I have had copies that were choppy in the audio/video of the game. i took that disc and copied it to better media and the new one worked fine. It depends on the burn.
If the information is all there in good shape, and it is just that your PS2 laser is having problems reading it because of the cheap media you will be fine. Because you PC will not have tat problem reading it.
If the information on the disc is a bad burn due to the PC and burner than nothing but a new copy from scratch will help.
the only real way to know is to try one.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping my pc's laser could read better than my ps2's
I'll give it a try on one of my more troublesome burns.

Didn't work for me but no harm in trying and it does make sense that it could work sometimes especially with the poor laser in the PS2 compared to a top of the line burner, please can you post your results? As I would be interested to see if it works for you.

Did you do a direct copy from an original or D/L an ISO?
A little more info would be nice then we can try to help any issues you have.

direct copy. Used dvd decryp
burned with dvd decryp as well.
Used these dvd-r's:
www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-white-inkjet-printable-8x-DVD-R-media.html
Every other dvd i've copied has worked (Eventually) fine...so, it's not like i dont know what I"m doing. I just wasn't sure if this game needs rebuilding or something. I'll probably try again with the same media and then with a diff media.
THanks

@K Arnold. Try Nero. I dont really like DVD Dekryptor. Also I downloaded mine so I'm not sure if it's rebuilt. Check for garbage/dummy files.
Test #3: Castlevania The Curse of Darkness
Played for 2 hours and choppy music and slow loading never appeared.

Are you choosing the copy dvd icon? I never have had that problem. If it was your windows settings you couldn't burn it with dvd decrypter either. Also did you check the disk for garbage/dummy files?
Test #4: God of War
Unfortunately it actually became worse. Music at title screen skipped eratically and in battle the loading prompt appeared more frequently. I know this was rebuilt to DVD-5 so it could have been the ISO itself.
Test #5: Radiata Stories
Intro was a little choppy, now it's smooth as silk!
