i installed kazaa, the free ad supported version and it connected once after about 10 minutes of waiting, now it wont connect at all.

If you live in Australia, you won't be able to connect. (To cut a long story short, the Australian Authorities ordered Kazaa to close down completely. But instead, they just disconnected Australians from their servers, theoretically leaving the Australian Authorities powerless)

I agree with lethal, use Limewire, OR if you have the time to learn (not very long) use torrents as they can be very good....
