Magic 2 Ver. 7 skipping and freezing problem

I have always had problems loading copied games with my ps2 but its getting worse all the time. I have a ver 7 with magic 2 chip. The problem I am having is that the games freeze and skip. I will place a music cd in and it will only play about 4-7 sec before freezing up. But if I hold the reset button in to go in the ps1 and dvd mode the music plays with no problem. I also can play original games by holding in the reset button with no problems but not just tapping the reset button.

your supposed hold the restart button for about 4 secs for back ups to work properly

Holding the reset button for the magic 2 chip only allows ps1 or dvd play. My problem is skipping and freezing for backup mode when you just tap the button to activate the chip. I have looked on the web about the z wire and the s wire but I need some more information on it to make sure I not going to damage the chip or ps2.

if its skipping and freezing you might want to try burning it at a lower speed like 1x or 2x with good quality dvds...can't go wrong with sony :)

I have burned at a lower speed but that is not the cause of the freezing and skipping. Like I said in the previous post that this was a bought music cd that was freezing in the mod chip mode. Even with games that are burnt I still have it freezing after the playstation logo comes up. It freezes about 7 to 14 sec. in to the start of the game.

So I dont think its a write error speed aince before I played the games and now I cant load them because of the freezing.

You might need to clean your lens... or replace it. Over time, playing backups eventually will kill your Disc reader. Now... You also MIGHT wanna try burning at a fast speed like 6 or 8X speed w/ alchol 120%. Some peoples burners are better than others and suck at slow speeds and rule at high speeds... So dont believe people when they say "BURN AT LOWEST SPEEDS" cuz, its not always true.. lol
