Hello.

Maybe somebody has an easy solution to this problem.

I joined two NTSC AVI streams into one using VirtualDub.
The resulting file ended up as a 2:01:25 hours movie. According to AVIcodec it is:

File : 2.53 GB (1.98 GB), duration: 2:01:25, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 54 %
Video : 700 MB, 806 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 512*384 (4:3), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported
Audio : 1.30 GB, 1536 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x1 = PCM, Supported

Then I used Mainconcept MPEG Encoder to convert it to MPEG PAL and increase its resolution. (I've done this many times with this program and never had any problems before).
AVIcodec shows the new MPG file as:

File : 5.33 GB (0.00 B), duration: 0:00:00, type: MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 75 %
Video : 0.00 B, 6000 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 720*576 (4:3), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported
Audio : 0.00 B, 224 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0], Supported

For some reason its duration was set to zero.

WinDVD doesn't play the file but Windows Media Player has no problem with it.

I suppose the problem has to do with the wrong duration and the question is how to fix it.

An old MPEG Corerctor I had (since 1999) instead of fixing the header, it zeroed all its values.

Is there some other tool I can use to fix the header, rather than reencoding with another program?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Made a mistake on the original post. I meant Mainconcept MPEG Encoder rather than TMPGEnc Plus.

Demux and remux in tmpgenc's mpeg tools.

Black holes are where God divided by zero...
