Since I am fairly computer saavy, and am interested in making "backups" ;) of my PS2 games or DVD's, I have been perusing the forums (fori?) and have been trying to gather as much general knowledge as possible, since as the subject line says, in this matter I'm a Noob. I first wanna give mad props to those of you who have written different guides and explanations and whatnot, even the answers to other questions have been a real benefit. That said, I have a few general questions which may or may not seem stupid depending on who you are, but I have been searching around for days now and these things keep popping up in my head unanswered. Hopefully you guys can help me out...

My questions (in no particular order)

1) Where can I purchase tried and true, 100% real, in no way fake, genuine Taiyo Yudens?? Bear in mind I live in Germany, I have visited some recommended sites and I know about media ID and Inner Hub but none of the websites that have shipping to Germany (even the German ones) actually guarantee that they are genuine. Any Europeans here that can recommend a very reliable site? I just dont wanna make an effort to get top of the line media and find out they are just as good as the pack I can buy at the supermarket.

2a) What is the easiest way to rip a DVD ISO into an .avi file?
2b) What is the most reliable way to rip a DVD ISO into an .avi file?
I have read many posts with varying procedures ranging from DVD Shrink, Auto GK, DVD Decrypter etc etc and dont know which one I should stick with.

3) I have an DVD ISO that is approx 5 GB. Is there a way to burn it to a normal DVD+R? Can I recode it somehow like a PS2 ISO?

I guess thats it for now, thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer, I really appreciate it.

first there a lot of sites that sell Taiyo Yudens and for the most part they are the real deal, second did you use the search button to see if you could find the answer to your question about ripping dvd to AVI, a lot of good information on this site like i said all you have to do is search the site , also do you have a dvd burner? also if you are trying to backup ps2 games you might have to get a mod chip for your system

man another ambiguous answer to a very straightforward question...I have spent hours in the forums and still dont really have a clue. And of course I have a burner.

AGAIN...
1) WHERE WHERE WHERE do I go to buy TY's online with good prices to Germany and have a good chance I wont get fakes?

2) How do I burn a DVD 9 ISO on my HD to one DVD 5 without using DVD Shrink?? I'm not interested in compression, I just want to cut all the menus and extras in order to get the main movie to fit.

I'll leave it at that. If there is a guide please give me the link, otherwise, a quick explanation indicating what programs are best or easiest would be greatly appreciated. I know questions like these get asked often, but I really havent found definitive answers.
