What is the newest firmware for Nec 3550a.
Will the newest flash give me booktype capabilities
or do I need hacked firmware for that.
I heard about Liggy and Dees firmware is that any good?
Has anyone here tried that firmware.
I really want to try that firmware but ive heard that once you flash using hacked firmware you cant flash back to regular firmware.

I forgot to add :
If I have flashed my firmware using liggy and dees firmware can i flash it again if they had newer updated firmware.
someone told me that once you flash your firmware using hacked firmware that you cant update or anything you have to stick with that same firmware until the end. ( its sounds like bs though ).
Can someone shed some light on this subject.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks a lot

Liggy and Dee are a trusted modified firmware source. I use their firmware for my 3540A and have flashed it a total of three times. The downfall of flashing your drive with modified firmware is that it voids your warranty. Just last week a new modified firmware was made available to the public for the 35XX series of NEC drives and yes when used in conjunction with the binflash utility enables booktyping. It also removes riplock, which increases your ripping speed and makes your drive region free. I would highly recommend modified firmware from liggy and dee, but read all the directions carefully as a bad flash can render a drive useless and as already stated voids your warranty. Good luck.

EDIT: I almost forgot the link to the download... http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/3550/

Ok I flashed my NEC 3550a.
I used Liggy and Dee's LD3550 1.Y6 Firmware Package
anyhow I just used Nero Disc Quality Test to see how good it burns with new firmware. I used my other burner to test so i could get a second opinion. Will use the NEC to test later. Here are my results: I hope everything is in order

I not quite sure what any of the stuff means. Hopefully someone here thats more experienced can tell me.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

According to the information given in the log you should be getting better scans with the media you are using, try burning at a slower speed 4X or 6X...I can get a 97-98% with a max of 4-5 on the pi portion using Verbatims.
