Hi all:

I'm new to the Blu-ray DVD arena, but I'm also interested in the possibilities in this new technology. Is anyone here interested in programming also?

I created a webpage that discusses the use of Java ME (formerly J2ME) to create applications in Blu-ray systems.

Using Java ME (which is the platform also used in SIM cards, cellphone games and apps, PDAs, etc), you can create very interactive DVD titles. Some of the functionalities possible:

- Creating vastly more dynamic menu systems;
- downloading additional content such as subtitles from the internet;
- serving current movie previews if the viewer requests them from the network;
- downloading games and other related titles at the request of the viewer.
- being able to buy new titles (online shopping)
