nec 1300 dvd burner getting errors

I have been useing this burner for a year or two with out a porblem now i get Power calibration error and Illegal disc Could not perform start of Disc-at-once errors all the time i havce tried 3 different medias and i have no luck at all

hope some one can help me i need to get a lot of burning done fast

You have the latest fw according to NEC, I know because I have this drive. However, the drive is not recognizing the media. The second burn you posted was done with perhaps Fuji disks, at any rate they are 16x write and burning them at 2.4x is to slow try it at 4x. I have burned the +R 16x on my NEC and it the burn came out fine, but the drive only half recognizes the media and it needs an update to fix that, which NEC does not have. There is an update available which is 1.0c and you can find doing a google. The usual site for this which is rpc has not been responding today. Or you can try here

Be aware that this is not NEC approved fw.

I would advise you to try some other media which the drive likes such as Verbatim or Sony. If you still have power calibration errors it just could be that the drive is getting a bit tired.

Edit out your serial # in both logs - it begins w/ 5C.
Try the discs arniebear advises - the Prodisc and AML discs your using could be the source of your problem.

Your Nero is a bit out of date - may want to update that to the latest 7.0.8.2. In Nero StartSmart click Nero Toolkit > Nero ProductSetup then choose update.
