hi all,
i have a question about changing the region of dvd when recording. i happen to live in usa, but i have a dvd r-9 that is region 3 (SouthEAst region), and i want to burn it to a dvd r-9, but change the region to 1 (USA). I wonder if I used anydvd to change the region to 1 and use alchol 120 to copy the image, does that change the dvd to region 1. if this does not work, can someone show me a way that i can change the region 3 to region 1, but keeping the dvd r-9 southeast region as it is. that is, no ripping so no compression has to be done. thanks

thanks. one more question, what is region free (i think i did that and AnyDVD said that the disc is now region free). does this mean that this dvd (region free) is playable worldwide? that is, in asia, usa, japan, etc....

if this is true, why does nobody make it a region free when burn a dvd using AnyDVD? this does sound better, right? or is there a drawback?

thanks again. one more question. What do you have to do in AnyDVD to make the burning dvd a region free dvd? the first time I got the burning dvd a region free was this. the orginal dvd was region 1 NTSC, but i wanted to change to region 3 (SouthEAst ASia) just for testing, so I chose region 3 in AnyDVD. However, when i burned it, and put it back into the dvd burner to see what region it showed up, and it showed that the burned dvd was region free. this burned dvd of course could be played on my dvd player (not worldwide player). but i thought the burned dvd should be turned to region 3, not region free, and could not be viewed in my dvd player (a player that is playable only to region 1). no matter what, region free is the best. but this process was done due to luck. MY QUESTION THEN IS HOW DO YOU make the burning dvd a region free WITH AnyDVD. when looking at the region in AnyDVD menu, i don't see any region free option. please help! no matter what, you have been much a helper. thanks

anydvd makes it region free by default so you dont have to do anything.

however you can change the region code in your drives by going to device manager but if you run AnyDVD i still think your backed up dvd will still come out region free ,i havent tryed changing my region code before in my drives though so iam not postive about that
