Does a simple guide to making KVCDs exist? I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out how to make them. I've got all the tools, I think. I've got DVD2SVCD and TMPG.. but from there on out, I'm lost.
If there is a complete guide on how to do this, I'd really like to know where to find it.
hi there, i'm a total newbie to this forum thing but try and bear with me.
If your movie files is in standard format i.e. mpeg, AVI, DivX etc then use winavi 7.5 to convert to a kvcd compliant file. Use the kvcd subtemplate within the dvd option. In the advanced tab section, choose the constant-video size (700mb) option and this will give you a really nice output.
Then use Nero 6 Ultra to burn the file as you would a normal VCD. Burn at NO HIGHER a speed than 8x. Provided the movie file does not have a large runtime i.e. higher than 3.5 hrs then you'll be really surprised by the finished quality. The disc will play on most standalone players.
Hope this is useful.
Happy Watching
If you want precise guides & tutorials to learn HOW to encode kvcd's, go to http://www.kvcd.net & pay the $3. If you just want to click a few buttons, play the discs & don't give a damn how it all happens, Check out: http://www.vmesquita.com/en/index.htm.
DIKO is free software, but it will only convert AVI or d2v. The paid version converts straight from a DVD. If you need to convert something into avi(such as mpeg files) so diko will process it, go here: http://www.autogk.me.uk/ That should take care of most of the common stuff.
Hope this helps. I've been making KVCD the lazy way with these apps for some time now. I still can't figure out how to get a decent looking kvcd with TMPGEnc.
