What is the size of the hard drive which comes inside youe XBOX?

Hiya, I'm thinking about having my XBOX chipped and to get one of these hardrives that you can simply insert an original xbox game and copy it to your hard drive and boot the game. I'm thinking of doing it with this UK based site: http://www.kanection.co.uk/product.php/57/27/ . does it look alright to you?
Do you need software to boot games off the HD of the xbox? What size is my XBOX that it came with? 40gig,80 gig what size?
I really will appreciate any help.

Oh, very small then. Umm.... Do you have to have a Modchip to copy games to your HD and play them off there?

Yes, either a mod chip or you can softmod it. Mod chip is easier. You might be able to get 3 games on that stock hd. As cheap as hd's are now I'd get a bigger one. I have a 300 gig in mine. So far I've loaded 59 games and I still have 147 gigs left to fill.
You will need some different programs to run the games. I've used Slayers 2.6 autoinstaller and it works great. It automatically installs all the programs you'll need.

a softmod is faster but the new hd for xbox is slower on softmods as where a chip makes a hd in less then 15 secs
but it is NOT complicated to make a hd on a softmoded xbox...
you just need xboxhdm1.9 and your eeprom.bin and any type of dash on C .....
you acuire eeprom.bin once you softmod it ... for more resourceful links? www.xbox-hq.com will have it all ( not saying this web site isnt good or anything but we specialise on xbox only so we have everything their needed on xbox over their....
get aid then install dvd2xbox slayers is gone... its too old and on a stock hd usualy only 1-3 games fit if not none ... halo 2 wont fit .....

your better off burning the games to disc because eventually your going to run out of space and your going to end up burning the games anyhow.

or you can make a bigger hd w/out no chips... go to www.xbox-hq.com and ill tell you everything you need to know about xbox ... how to make hds this and that.

what if you dont have the eeprom with the hdd key, just a motherboard, no hdd? how hard is it to just buy a hdd and put it in? is the only way to do this with a modchip installed?

and the return said > yes you need a chip .... FALSE... you dont need a chip , if you have it softmod then you break the secuiry from there so you can play backups and any other unsiged codes.

Hi Everyone Newbie to the forum here and was reading this thread as i want to mod my Xbox. I went to ModChipStore.com to do some price cheacking and what im wondering is what are all those extra items you can buy (i.e. Control Panel w/LCD = plus switch)? What Are these for? Are they nessecary?

you can softmod it means you dont open it and you dont need chip.

no they are not nececary ... its just to mesure temp on the xbox ... ( you can softmod for less ! ....) like 5 for the game and the ar kit for 30 ... ( pm me :D)
