Help I need somebody - Help
Hi all, where do i begin, I recently and finally went out and bought myself a new motherboard after I somehow recked the last one, I bough a super duper Winfast GEFORCE series 6100K8MA, got it all up and running, everythings fine, i have 1Gb Ram, 3 x 120Gb IDE Hard Drives and 1 x 200Gb S-ata HD, plus 3 Dvd writers, reinstalled all my software, everythings excellent, went to play a movie that i had converted from dvd to avi using Tmpgenc Xpress and found that the audio was out of sync, i have watched this movie on my previous pc and it was working fine (i think), so i then opened a different movie, same problem, i dont have a problem sittin til the early hours working out the problem and the soluton, i could re-rip the dvd and re-convert it again, problem is i have over 300 movies and its taken years to build up my collection, I've checked out all the codecs used by the avi files i've made and i have them installed (Fraunhofer MPEG-Layer 3 Codec), so does anyone have a solution, i have ripped a dvd and it plays fine in Nero showtime from a folder on my HD, but when i take it through Tmpgenc Xpress to the same problem occurs, I'm using -
Video Codec - DivX® 6.1.1 Codec
Audio Codec - Aud-X 5.1, 320 kBit/s, 48,000 Hz, Stereo
though i have tried to use different audio codec, does anyone reccommend a particular ? I dont seem to beable to access the Fraunhofer MPEG-Layer 3 Codec, any suggestions?
I dont mind spendin a week or 2 ripping all my dvds again, then a further few moths convertin them, however the problem is when i make a new avi the final file size is massive, for instance i can convert 1 star trek voyager disc (4 episodes) to a file size of around 600mb, now when i convert it its over 2gb
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I want to keep the video codec - Divx 6.1.1
Audio codec - I'm open to suggestions
Final resolution of the video is 480 x 352
File type - Avi
Framerate 29.97
Audio - 320kbit/s, 48,000Hz Sterio (I think) again open to suggestions
Where does Dolby Digital come into play?
Help me please

I cannot understand which audio codec is used, I only know the bitrate (320 kbps) and the sampling rate (48000 Hz). Load that AVI with VirtualDub and make File___File Information'. After that, Demux the AVI stream by making 'Fie___Save WAV, but leaving the defauld 'audio__direct stream copy' and insertin, in the name of the output file, the correct extension - MP3 or AC3 - depending on what you saw. Usually you'll see either Mpeg Layer III (MP3) od Dolby (AC3).
If it is AC3, author it directly on your DVD toghether with your M2V file (e.g. with IFOEdit).
If the AVIs audio is MP3, run FFMPEG GUI, load the file and choose audio settings: AC3 (if you have surround speakers on your TV) 384 kbps or MP2 224 kbps (if you don't), sampling rate: 48000. Convert.
Ah, the bitrate chosen will have to be accounted , to determine the bitrate of the video (any bitrate calculator asks the movie's duration and the movie's audio bitrate)

Hi there
Thanks for ur help, however i dont want to start using 5 or 6 programs to get a result that i can get form 1 or 2 programs
I ripp the dvd using DVD DECRYPTER
The take it into TMPGEnc XPRESS
Yesterday i ripped 'The Day After Tomorrow' and converted it to AVI using Tmpgence with the
Video Output - XviD MPEG-4 codec
With the settins - HDTV & Single PAss
Audio Output - AC-3 ACM 4 Aud-X codec, 44.100 kHz, Stereo
With the settings - AC3 ACM codec Compressor format - 320kbits - 44100hz stereo
Final AVI file was 526mbs wihich is ok, quality and sound is great
So whats the problem i hear u say, well after i did this movie i did the same process with 'The Green Mile' this movie is about 3hours long, and the problem is that the audio has gone out of sync,

AM i having theses problems because my pc is now a 64bit instead of 32bit, i'm finding that i cant use some programs such as Dvdshrink, maybe some of my codecs are not functioning either

Hi,
first of all, if your movies worked fine before, and now
you have some sync problems, it means that there is a problem with your
player (or playing mechanism). This especially concerns winamp for sampling rate = 48000 Hz. Therefore please try to use other player,
e.g. BSplayer.

For audio encoding:
1) If you are going to use a PC for playing movies, please use Aud-X STDQ 128 kbps (you need a special version of Virtual Dub Mod to use the Aud-X encoder -> please visit www.aud-x.com to downloade it)
2) If you want to play your movies on external DVD hardware player, please use Aud-X HGHQ (high quality - 192 kbps). It is Dolby Prologic II backwards compatible, so your hardware will be able to decode it to stereo or surround sound.

Definitely no need to re-rip all your audio-video content.
Please download the latest Aud-X codec (1.21),
and remove the old one,
because the previous version caused some DVD shrink problems.

I am having problems with TMPGEnc xpress. Everytime I try to convert from AVI to mpeg with this program the convertion begins normaly, but at some point is stops, with a message saying that there was an error readyng the file or the file is corrupt. But the error never happens at the same point, so I doubt that is really the problem. Once I even could finish the conversion (after trying like 7 times).
I also tried using TMPGEnc, but there is no option for converting multiple files. Is there anyway to fix the error in the TMPGEnc xpress or any other way to do it? Other programs do the job, but the dvd player cuts the edges of the video. Only TMPGEnc xpress do it right, and it crashes most of the time....
