nero burn speed problem

When i use nero it will only let me burn dvds at 4x speed but it use to let me burn them at 8x speed. I tried re-installing and still only gives me 4x as an option.

Most here at AD recommend that you burn at 4X.

what kind of burner are you using ?

Also what is your media rated at ?(max. speed)

i know that 4x is recomended, but i have been burning at 8x with out any problems. The the drive will burn up to 16x and the dvds will burn at 16x. I have used 2 different types of disks one an 8x and the other a 16x and neither will burn faster than 4x.

4x is not always the recommended speed - it depends on the drive, media and what your player will accept.
So as dabig25 asked what's the make and model of your drive? Is your firmware up to date? What brand of discs are your using? Nero version using?
Your burner usually will determine the write speed allowed on the disc - Nero usually doens't override this.
