I have just downloaded and tested DVD shrink 1.03 and have to say it is just great. You can basically copy any DVD9 disc to a standard DVD-R . You have a selection of compression levels to choose from to enable the burn to fit to one disc. You can also disable all the menus and extras if you choose. To burn I use Nero5.5 latest version without any problems. I have decided that any disc less than 6GB is worth copying on one disc complete as there is not much loss in quality, but anything greater than that I use DVD X copy to two discs. Unlike DVD X however DVD Shrink is completely free so be sure not to pay $80 for DVD X Xpress which basically does the same thing without the option of retaining all the extras. You can get DVD shrink from this site free! What a find!
