OK so I wanted to see how great TY media is that everybody says is the best and I bought a 2 pack. I attempted to backup res evil 4 which I have succesfully backed up using a TDK DVD+R 16x disc burnt at 4x. The game skips so i thought it was my media. I attempted to backup the game on my TYGO2 DVD-R 8x media at 4x with no success. Here is the message nero gave me...
What happened?!

OK well I tried the disc and somehow it worked, but the results were the same as when I use the TDK DVD+R discs. I have god of war and res evil 4 backed up, and everytime a video cut scene comes on it skips really bad and sometimes freezes, gameplay is very smooth though for both games. I have a matrix infinity chip on a v4 console. From what I know for the forums the iso does not need rebuilding? RES EVIL 4 is 4.25g. So I suppose this is not a media problem since my TDK DVD+R works the same as the TY I tested. What else could the problem be?

do u usualy burn at 4x ? if not then it might be the speed your burning at. could also be that your loading other programs so just leave it alone when its burning for best result. is ur Ty's fake by anychance? theres a lot going about tht aint original.

tam2005 is that thing(sign with ip etc) suppost to be real cause if it is that is all wrong.OH and i figured out u have to have a good dvd burner to burn ty's or they are worthless i now have a sony vaio laptop with a matshita and they work ok now.Get all ur stuff from japan u wont go wrong.

Listen, those DVDs you are using, I don't think they are Taiyo Yuden. The ID says Sony.. and this was faked by a certain company, there is no such ID as Sony. So looks like you bought fake TYs, you should look into where you are buying from when shopping online. There is a thread around called "Post your bad media experiences" which you should check out. Shop at http://www.svp.co.uk or somewhere reputable.

EDIT : Your burner is called Sony, apologies for that. Can you please post the media ID from the discs and tell us where you bought the discs from?

Yes, I bought the media off ebay, it was a free 2 pack sampler. They claim that they are original and the ID using Nero CD-DVD Speed is TYG02. So I dont know if they are real or not? I was browsing through a few other threads reading about checking disc quality and I ran a scan with the TY disc I copied. These were the results:
I have no clue what happened. Maybe they must be fake. Any other suggestions?

They are fake. The code TYG02 is not Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
never buy media off ebay
By any chance.. was the seller silvertek, silver-tek or something similar?

tell them (ebay)he is selling fake goods,and if they dont do anything about it,you will report them to taiyo yuden for not doing anything about it

I ran another test on these fake TYs using Nero CD-DVD Speed and this is what I got...
Crap!! Im surprised silvertek has such a good rep for the junk they sell. One guy that bought from them left neutral feedback saying "DVD burns fine w/Pioneer but every DVD burned skips Good price fast shipping" then Silver-tek replied by saying, "It's probably because you aren't blowing off the disks with a can dust remover." ? hmmm.

you need to report him for sure,if they dont do anything about it quickly,then re-send them an email threatening them for allowing such itmes to be sold
they WILL kick him off for selling fake goods i can assure you,its just that not many people bother reporting such folk,and they get away with it
