I heard that the 360 can play ISO files of original Xbox games without being chipped. I haven't tried this (yet) so can anyone confirm this?

No it won't. However strangley enough I tried to do this and my 360 knew what game it was and downloaded the game emulator update. In my case it was a H2 iso. STrange though! It then rebooted and told me to go to xbox.com/support

it is becuase the emulator was designed by hackers originally for the pc but once it detects a fake key it wont boot and gives you the screen of death

Pretty much. The emulator spftware that they use is C++ based similar to CYBOX or whatever the hell it is called. If we in the hacking community could figure out the siganture code for the disks, we could obliterate the failsafes. Interestingly enough though we should by all means be able to boot backups due to one fatal flaw MS has made. On the 360 site, they provide a burn your-self zip file so you can manually update the box for original game play. I'm sure there must be a way to hack the default.xex they rpovide you or alter in some other way. This is proof enough to me that getting 3rd party code run on it shouldn't be too much of a problem. They should focus on this aspect more instead of the DVD drive!
