I just got a MUSTEK DVR-HDD (had probs w/ iLO) never had a blue window pop up and say........ [NOT ABLE to REC] when trying to copy to an outside disc or hdd, this only happens on movies i have saved in my TiVo.
I first thought that maybe some new movies have a COPY RIGHT signal in them.....BUT that would STOP the TiVo from recording them in the first place.....right ?
One of the movies that wouldn't copy to MUSTEK HDD from TiVo [Blade 3] was on Satilite and DID RECORD direct to new HDD........so signal issue is either in the TiVo or Mustek, i suspect Mustek cuz this never happened before, i guess i could TEST w/ diff DVD recorder but that voids the idea of my new HDD serving all my needs. I have grown to love my TiVo cuz its so easy and has rarely let me down however.........unless im missing something a standerd DVR even the cheap ones w/o HDD can basicaly do the same things as a TiVo and no TiVo service.......most cable or satilite pakages have the ability to 'see a program menu' and assign your DVR to record to DVD+R or RW single or weekly recordings, some can even pause live TV.............
.......so sure i could do that seperate from my TiVo service but would be kind of a hassle, the issue to remind you......is once i save a movie to my TiVo (cuz its easier) i want to build my DVD collection by transfering to Mustek HDD and burning to disc.
SO IS THERE A DEVICE THAT CAN GO IN LINE TO STOP THAT FILTER ?
or something that can be 'turned off' in either unit so this will stop ?
isn't there a simple device that allows the copy of commercial DVDs to home units.........might that be the same signal causing this ?
ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED !
thanks,
Dave
