I've searched the forum for an answer to my problem but haven't been able to find any. So here it is: I'm trying to convert a ratdvd file to a "normal" dvd. Once the process begins, ratdvd starts tu use 100% of the system resources and it won't go down. I'm afraid it might damage the cpu, so I cancelled the process. This happens both checking and leaving unchecked the "low priority" option.

So the question is: any possible reason and/or solution for this? there may be perhaps a problem with the film I'm trying to convert?

Thanks in advance.

Get more RAM? DVD Converters always suck up a lot of ram

More than 512mb? I guess that could help improve things but I'd be surprised if that was the only solution for this problem :-(

Both computers I'm using are rather new. I mean, they're not brand new, but none of them is older than 2 years, which is not that much for this issue, I think. At least I should be able to do a proper conversion, above all because I'm not using the computer for anything else but the conversion itself! :-?

Do you mean 100% of cpu? If so, that's normal. It won't hurt your computer, unless there is something wrong with your cpu cooling fan.

Well I guess it shouldn't use 100% cpu (yes, it's that what I mean) if I choose low priority... because what would be the difference between low and normal priority if both use 100% cpu?? :-?

I think that I won't take the risk for the moment. Probably nothing would happen but I don't feel like having my AMD using 100% system resources for several hours... :-(

ratdvd will always use 100% while converting. Low priority means it will let other programs get first crack at cpu usage. This is handy if your trying to use the computer for something else while ratDVD is running.
