PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs.
So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.
What mod are you using?
What media are you using?
If the image in an .iso use DVD Decrypter for the burn,
It does a great job of burning ps2 games.
Cheap media doesnt work well with the ps2.
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
The following list is in preference order. The best discs are near the top of the list. The discs at
the bottom of the list are suitable only for a landfill.
Almost flawless burns with 95-100% reliable results:
PVC = Pioneer = (-R)(-RW)
MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2

Instead of using SlySoft's anyDVD (which looks like a great program) would alc. 120% work if I just mount the image as a .cue then just burn at 4x using a non-mod ps2 and DVD+R disk? I was told ALC. 120% would work but have yet to try becuase befor I start wasting a bunch of disks I would like to know what I am doing ;P. I dont have the version of the ps2 but does it matter if I am not Moding? SO PRITTY MUCH DO AS FOLLOWED?
Download version of game with a .cue file image (SINCE YOUR RETAIL COPY IS BROKEN OR SOMETHING ELSE.)
Mount the .cue using ALC. 120%
Burn with ALC. 120% burn function at 4X (OR SLOWER) to a DVD+D disk.
CORRECT?

xbox 360 premium edtion with vga/hd hook up to my dell 20.1 inch widescreen lcd.
White and black 1.5 psp's
I'll take this down WHEN micro$oft decides to stop being lazy and make the capcom fighting games backwards compatible with the 360 dammit!!!

Are you shure because I thought you could. I have yet to try. But earlyer on another thread an admin said you could. It involved this dude trying to make a copy of one of his games for his son and was using that swap magic 3.6 on a non moded. He couldnt get it to work because swap magic wasnt working for him but admin showed em another program.

Ok well than not to beat a dead horse, I thought mods were only install chips you input to a ps2 like dms3/4 or something like that were u install a chip. If not than what defines a mod and if you mean a boot disk to run cracked ps2 games (that you have already bought and dont work anymore) than how do u make the boot disk?

When you say unmodded ps2, people assume you have a stock ps2 with no modchip or swap magic disc. You cannot make a boot disc, they are pressed just like original ps2 games.

Try using DVD R-W and that way if the game does not work then your not out DVD's and you can format the DVD should the game not work. Then if it works on the DVD R-W then your ok to use the DVD-R Also here is a site for modchips. Good luck

You shouldn't be recommending rw discs, the ps2 has a very hard time reading them, and it can easily fry your laser.
