This is my first time working with Nero Vision 4. I am taking Windows Movie maker project and making a DVD of it. If I keep it as one length and set chapter marks everthing is fine until I click on the thumbnails for the chapters. They all start at the beginning of the movie instead of the set mark. Is this a glitch? I've had to bring the movie files in in their own segments to have a thumbnail start where it's supposed to.

Haven't had that problem myself. So you are importing a single .WMV file, right (I'm assuming you didn't output DV-AVI from MovieMaker)?

If you use another WMV file as input (not created by MovieMaker) can you make working chapters in it?

Well, I broke down a Windows Movie Maker project into 6 smaller movie maker projects because it was too big and bogging down. I made 6 different videos for a band. I saved them to the computer (Windows Movie make saves in .wmv format)and dropped them into a new movie project with transitions between each video then saved that to the computer. I then took the complete movie and brought that .wmv file into "Nero vision 4". I set chapter marks and set up the menu with a video file background and animated all the chapter buttons. When setting where the animations begins for the the chapter buttons those all where fine and only had that chapter in the pop up screen for setting the button stuff. When I went to preview and clicked on the chapter buttons they all started at the very beggining of the whole movie. If I pressed the chapter forward and rewind buttons they would skip to the next chapter or go back one (so that works but, they just don't start at the chapter mark via the chapter thumbnails). It also says "Nero Vision Express 3" on the preview menu of my "Nero Vision 4". Is that normal?

My intent is to have one disc with the main menu having the choice of standard format or wide screen and then either one of those thubnails would take you to another menu screen that had all the chapter thumbnails and clicking on those would start you at that particular video/chapter. Otherwise I would have to have two separate disc and I still can't set a chapter marks for the last video for the interlude and credits.

I tried bringing all the separate .wmv files into "Nero Vision 4" and merging them and setting chapter marks but, that had the same effect.

The only thing I could get to work properly was to just bring in the 6 separate .wmv files to "Nero Vision 4" and which works fine except I can't set any chapters on the last video for the interlude and the credits because I'll run into the same problem.

As to the latter part of your question, I don't have any other .wmv files so never troubleshot with them. I hope this isn't a Nero glich. I was tempted to go ahead an record to DVD-R hoping that it would come out all right but I was very low on DVD-rs and didn't really think that it would turn out fine anyway.
