Hey,
I got Ritek Ridata GO4's 4X DVD-R like 2 years ago maybe more. I still have some. I burnt the Godfather and it do swap magic and it goes to a black screen spinning and stopping etc then just stops. I think i need new media. What should I get. I have a slim ps2. DVD-R never worked on my slim just the fat.

i have a slim V12, and a fat V7
i used nothing but DVD-R (8X speed only)
you may want to try some Verbatims. have have recently bought some and they worked really well. Even the 8X DVD+R played which i could never get the TDK or Philips i had to do.
Then again it could be the new burner i just put in too.
But Verbatim you can get about anywhere like Circuit City or Best Buy and they are widely used by many people.
You should be fine with either +R or -R
+R will work great if your burner can booktype them to DVD-Rom.
i have heard Maxcell & Sony (made in Japan only!) also work well.
And if you order them online and can get genuin Taiyo Yuden DVD's then i would buy those as they are said to be the "king of all media" ..... sorry Howard :)

Memorex are supposed to be totally shit, there are so many threads on this site about best media. I'm guessing you never seen
The OFFICIAL best media thread - FOR GOD's SAKE NOOBS LOOK HERE FIRST!!!!!!
It's stickied up the top ;)
Most people will say Taiyo Yuden or Verbatims are the best. Anything that says made in Japan/Taiwan is usually great.
Also you can use DVD Decrypter to find out exactly what disc you have including the dye, just stick it in and its on the right of DVD Decrypter.

Memorex does usually work well with movies, but not PS2 games. Your best bet is to go with Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony, Maxell or Philips.

ok... I can use the rest of these memorex discs (like 4) to learn how to do this... or maybe save them for movies. Until I order some of the good ones.
Can you buy any of them in stores in the US? or have to order em?

They should be fine if you want a printable disc, to tell you the truth i rarely ever use those types. I use the plain ones and write on them with a sharpie
I have tried a couple Verbatim Lightscribe discs and they worked well
neat to have the actual game picture on the DVD :)
if you have a lightscribe burner that is.
and i personally prefer DVD-R myself
They look to only have either Inkjet or Thermal printable Taiyo Yudens there.
http://www.cdrdvdrmedia.com/verbatim-8x-dvd-r-silver.html those would also work really well but are much more expensive.
Most good Verbatims have Taiyo Yuden ID codes and use the same
Metal Azo dye as TY

it should, yes
i had bad luck with injet printable discs, but they were also TDK's so they were not the best quality either.
The lightscribe discs i bought were Verbatim and were just fine.
They are basically a different style of printable discs. They are SWEET! :)
image that only the original picture that was on the game.
P.S. GO FLYERS! (Philadelphia Flyers that is)

everyone moans about memorex. Still waiting for my Taiyo's to arrive which everyone advised me but I am 9/9 today with memorex. Except for torino which I haven't learned to do yet. its a cd or something.
I also used a "Tuff Disk" from big pockets and that also plays BLACK perfectly.
