Hi, I'm having the same problem as many others, AFF.com and sysprotect constantly keep popping up. Any guidance for me?

Ok, you got some infections.

You don't have a firewall or an antivirus on your computer. Download and install one firewall and one antivirus.

These are good (free) firewalls:
ZoneAlarm --> http://www.zonelabs.com
Kerio--> http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm
Outpost-> http://www.agnitum.com

These are good (free) antiviruses:
AVG Antivirus --> http://www.grisoft.com
Avast --> http://www.avast.com

Cleaning instructions:

Move HijackThis into its own folder C:\HJT

1.Download and install Ewido, UPDATE it, but do NOT run a scan yet. -> http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

2.Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop -> http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1
Do NOT run yet.

3.Go to Control Panel -> Add or remove programs -> Remove MyWay, Ebates Moe Money Maker if found

Disable Microsoft Antispyware.

4.Download VundoFix.exe and save it to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Place a check in the checkbox labeled Run VundoFix as a task. You will receive a message stating that VundoFix will close and re-open in a minute or less.
* When VundoFix reopens, click the OK button.
* Click the Scan for Vundo button.
* Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click the YES button.
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click the OK button.
* When the computer has shutdown, turn your computer back on.

5.Restart your computer to the safe mode (Press F8 button when computer is starting and choose safe mode)

6.Run HijackThis and fix these entries (if found): (Do a system scan only, check entries, close all other windows, press Fix checked)

7.Make your hidden files visible:
->On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
->Click the View tab.
->Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.

8.Delete these folders if found:
C:\Program Files\MyWaySA
C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker

9.Use the Windows "search" function (make sure that you search from hidden files and folders and from system folders too)

Search for this and delete if found: WinSysCheck.exe
Search for this and delete if found: Scan32Sys.exe
Search for this and delete if found: System32Check.exe

10.Run ATF Cleaner -> Check select all -> Press Empty selected

11.Make your hidden files invisible again:
->On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
->Click the View tab.
->Under Hidden files and folders, click Do not show hidden files and folders.

12.Scan your computer with Ewido, clean the findings and save the log file.

13.Restart your computer normally.

14.Post the following logs to here:
-> fresh HijackThis log
-> Ewido's log
-> contents of C:\vundofix.txt

Enable Microsoft Antispyware.

Ok, they don't want to go away...

Download Killbox to your desktop -> http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip
Unzip it to your desktop.

Run Killbox.exe
-> Choose Delete on Reboot
-> Click All Files option.

Copy the following lines to your clipboard (choose text with your mouse, press CTRL+C or copy)

C:\Documents and Settings\April Patterson\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\0PWZ8549\SysProtectScannerInstall[1].exe
C:\Documents and Settings\April Patterson\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\EVW3ET2H\WinAntiVirusPro2006Installer[1].exe


Then go back to Killbox
-> go to File
-> choose Paste from Clipboard
-> Click the red-white Delete File option.
-> Click Yes to Delete on Reboot question
-> Click OK to any PendingFileRenameOperations requests (and tell me if you get any of these!)
-> Restart your computer if Killbox won't do it.

OK, I guess we have to clean those manually :)

Press Start
-> Run
-> Write this to the field: regedit
-> Press OK

At first, you should take a backup of your registry:
-> (In regedit) select My Computer right-click it and press Export
-> Name it to RegBackup and save it to the C:\

Then go: (in regedit)
->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
->Software
->Microsoft
->Windows
->CurrentVersion
->Run

-> Search the following entries and delete those:
NI.USYP_0001_N69M1703
NI.UWA6P_0001_N69M0303
-> Close Regedit

OK very good, those two lines are gone now =)

You should update your Java so you don't get infected in the future : (Vundo spreads through a vulnerability in older java versions)

1. Click Start-> Control panel and double-click Java icon (coffee cup)
2. Move to Update tab and update Java by clicking "Update Now". After that do a restart.
3. If you can't make automatic update, get new version manually from here -> http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
4. After restart go back to your Java settings thru control panel (Start->control panel->java).
5. Select Temporary Internet Files and click Delete Files.
6. Make sure that all these three are checked:

Downloaded Applets
Downloaded Applications
Other files

7. Click ok in Delete Temporary Internet Files window (Attention: This removes all loaded applications and applets from cache)
8. Click ok to close Java window.

Ok great. Now, I tried doing the Java update and here is what error message I got:
This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

Error- Java update
Installation of update to the Java Platform was not completed.

Now what?
